Installing iMac Intel 20" EMC 2266 RAM Installation

Upgrading the RAM in your 20" Intel iMac.

Use this guide to replace or upgrade your iMac's RAM for an instant speed boost.

Step 1 Access Door  ¶ 

  • Lay your iMac front side down on a table with the lower edge facing yourself.

  • Loosen the single Phillips screw in the center of the access door.

  • This screw is captive in the access door.

  • Remove the access door from your iMac.

Step 2 RAM Installation  ¶ 

  • Use the flat end of a spudger to pull the black plastic RAM tabs out of the memory bay.

  • Pull the black plastic RAM tab away from your iMac to eject the RAM module.

Step 3  ¶ 

  • Grab the RAM module by its edges and pull it straight out of its slot.

  • If two RAM modules are installed, repeat this process for the other module.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
